Gingham

Gingham is a medium-weight balanced plain-woven fabric made from dyed cotton or cotton-blend yarn.

The name originates from an adjective in the Malay language, ging-gang, meaning striped, but checked gingham became more common over time.

Gingham has been a mainstay in fashion since proper ladies of the 1940s and a 50s Brigitte Bardot made the fabric popular.
